Veneers are a comfortable solution to change the look of a tooth to improve your smile and confidence.

They can be used to dramatically improve the appearance of stained, chipped or misaligned teeth when orthodontics is not a suitable option.

What is a veneer?

A veneer is made of either a thin layer of porcelain or a resin composite material. It is custom-made and crafted to fit over the front of one or more teeth to create an improved aesthetic appearance.

What is the procedure?

In some instances, a tiny amount of enamel will need to be removed from the tooth. This provides the space for the veneer to align with the surrounding teeth when it is attached. This can often be carried out without local anaesthetic.

At this initial visit, we would take a digital scan or impression to transfer the information to our dental laboratory. We would also take a series of photographs to help us determine the correct shade, size and shape of your teeth to provide you with a matching replacement.

This prescription is then sent to our dental technician in Taunton who will fabricate bespoke veneers for yourself which will blend into your smile seamlessly. Temporary veneers would be inserted until the new veneers are delivered. These are usually cemented at a second visit if the desired result has been achieved.

How do I look after my veneers?

Veneers are made of a strong and durable material and can last for many years but it is important to treat them with care to prevent any damage. Chewing on hard materials could break them and any habits such as fingernail biting or pen chewing might damage them.

Dental veneers are thin, custom-made shells that are bonded to the front surface of teeth to improve their appearance. They can correct a variety of dental imperfections, including chips, cracks, gaps, and discolouration.
The process of getting dental veneers usually involves two or more dental appointments. The first appointment involves preparing the teeth and taking impressions. The second appointment is for the placement of the veneers.
The process of preparing the teeth for veneers typically involves removing a thin layer of enamel, which may require local anaesthesia. The placement of the veneers themselves is usually painless.
With proper care, dental veneers can last for many years, often a decade or more. Regular dental check-ups and good oral hygiene are essential for their longevity.
Since veneers are stain-resistant, you won't need to whiten them. However, the underlying teeth may still be susceptible to staining, so maintaining good oral hygiene is important.
Other cosmetic dental treatments, such as teeth whitening or composite bonding, can address some dental imperfections. However, veneers offer a more comprehensive and long-lasting solution for significant smile transformations.
