Teeth can become discoloured over time. Tea, coffee and red wine along with certain foods can cause teeth to darken progressively.

Whitening is a great way to create whiter, brighter looking teeth and leave you with a smile that sparkles and make you look younger.

What type of teeth whitening is available?

Here at Cheltenham & Cotswold Dental, we use White Dental Beauty, a worldwide dental brand. It is highly regarded for its high-quality teeth whitening gels which create great results. Teeth whitening is ideal for a special occasion or just to give you an extra confidence boost.

What does teeth whitening involve?

There will be an initial consultation to assess your suitability and discuss the treatment. Impressions will then be taken of your teeth using our digital iTero 3D scanner. The impressions are then sent away to a laboratory to create your own custom-fitted trays.

What happens next?

You will be given a treatment pack with White Dental Beauty gel to take home with you. A small amount of gel is placed in the trays and worn during the day or at night for a few hours over two weeks. You will be invited back to the practice for review appointments during treatment.

How long will it last?

Whitening results will last for many years however as time progresses, you will notice your teeth darken slightly with dietary stain. Following your treatment, you will keep your whitening trays and we would recommend that you obtain a small amount of the product from us on a six-monthly basis to top up your results.

Teeth whitening uses a bleaching agent to remove stains and discolouration from the tooth enamel, resulting in a brighter smile. Professional whitening treatments offer more concentrated solutions for faster and more effective results.
When performed by a qualified dental professional, teeth whitening is generally considered safe. However, it's important to choose a reputable dentist to minimise the risk of tooth sensitivity.
The duration of teeth whitening results can vary depending on individual factors, such as diet, smoking habits, and oral hygiene. To maintain a whiter smile, avoiding stain-causing substances and continuing regular dental check-ups is recommended.
Most people experience mild tooth sensitivity during and shortly after teeth whitening treatment. However, modern whitening techniques and desensitising agents have significantly reduced discomfort.
At-home kits require multiple applications over several weeks. The desired level of whiteness will also influence the treatment time.
When performed by a qualified dentist, teeth whitening is safe and does not damage the tooth enamel. However, excessive whitening or using over-the-counter products without professional guidance can increase the risk of sensitivity.
