Facial aesthetic treatments are non-surgical, medical facial procedures designed to improve skin quality, facial balance and signs of ageing in a controlled, natural and predictable way. At Cheltenham & Cotswold Dental, facial aesthetics are delivered within a medical and dental clinical environment, led by Dr Imi Nasser, an award-winning clinician with advanced training in facial anatomy, injectables and regenerative treatments.
Facial ageing is not just about wrinkles. It involves changes in:
For this reason, treatments are not offered as isolated, one-off procedures. Instead, patients are guided through bespoke facial programmes designed to rejuvenate, refine and then maintain results over time. All treatments are carefully selected and sequenced following a comprehensive consultation and facial assessment.

While both treatments aim to rejuvenate the face, they work in very different ways. Anti-wrinkle injections (often using botulinum toxin) temporarily relax the underlying muscles that cause expression lines, such as frown lines or crow's feet. In contrast, dermal fillers are injectable gels, typically made of hyaluronic acid, used to restore lost volume, lift sagging skin, or contour specific features like the lips and cheeks. Think of it this way: one relaxes the lines, while the other plumps the area.
The longevity of your results depends on the product used and your individual metabolism. Generally, anti-wrinkle treatments last around 3-4 months, but duration may increase with repeated use. Dermal fillers tend to be longer-lasting, with results often visible for 6 to 18 months, depending on the area treated and the thickness of the filler used. Regular maintenance appointments can help you keep your desired look consistent over time.
The goal of modern facial aesthetics is to enhance your natural features, not completely change them. When performed by our skilled practitioners, treatments will make you look like a well-rested version of yourself. Anti-wrinkle injections are carefully placed to soften lines while maintaining natural expression, and fillers are used to support your existing bone structure. The best results are the ones where people notice you look great but can’t quite put their finger on why.
If you are looking for more instant results, dermal fillers provide an immediate lift and volume boost the moment they are injected. Anti-wrinkle injections, however, require a little more patience. It usually takes about 3 to 5 days to start seeing the effects, with the full, smoothed-out result appearing around 10-14 days after the appointment.
Yes, this is often referred to as preventative treatment. By using anti-wrinkle injections before deep lines become permanently etched into the skin, you can reduce the repetitive folding of the skin caused by facial expressions. This helps keep the skin smooth for longer and may even reduce the amount of product you need in the future. It’s much easier to prevent a deep crease from forming than it is to treat one that has been there for years.
One of the reasons these treatments are so popular is that they fit easily into a busy lifestyle. Most patients return to their normal daily activities immediately after leaving the clinic. While you might experience some minor redness, mild swelling, or tenderness at the injection sites, this is normal and typically settles within a few days. Treated areas may feel firm or uneven for a short period, but this usually resolves as the product integrates. Final results typically settle in between 7 and 14 days. We generally advise avoiding heavy exercise, saunas, or lying flat for about 24 hours to ensure the product stays exactly where it’s meant to be.
Choosing the right path depends entirely on your unique facial structure and your personal goals. During a consultation, we will assess your face in motion and at rest to determine whether your concerns are caused by muscle movement or a loss of volume. Often, a combination of both anti-wrinkle injections and fillers provides the most balanced and harmonious result. It’s all about creating a bespoke plan that highlights your favourite features.
To help your results settle beautifully, there are a few simple steps you can take at home. For the first 24 hours, keep the treated area clean and stay well-hydrated. If you notice any mild swelling, applying a cool compress wrapped in a clean cloth intermittently can be very soothing, as can sleeping with your head slightly elevated on the first night.
To ensure your treatment settles perfectly and gives you the best possible results, it’s important to give the area some rest for the first 12 to 24 hours by avoiding makeup and refraining from touching, rubbing, or massaging the skin. For the first day or two, avoid vigorous exercise, stay away from alcohol, and avoid hot environments like saunas or steam rooms, as these can increase blood flow to the face. Avoid Aspirin, Motrin, Ginkgo Biloba, garlic, flax oil, cod liver oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, or any other essential fatty acids for at least one week after treatment. As well as avoiding the use of Retinol or similar products for two days after treatment.
Looking further ahead, we recommend waiting a full two weeks before professional facial massages, or other skin treatments. Finally, protecting your skin from direct sun exposure or sunbeds for those first 14 days will help maintain your fresh new look and keep your skin healthy.
We recommend staying upright for the first 4 to 6 hours, so try to avoid lying completely flat or bending over excessively during this time. While you should continue with your regular skincare routine, please be mindful to avoid any rubbing or massaging for 24 hours. Also avoid make up for 4 hours following treatment.
To ensure your treatment settles well, it is important to avoid touching, rubbing, or massaging of the skin for 24 hours. We recommend keeping the area clear of makeup for at least 4 hours and avoiding the gym, alcohol, hot showers, or saunas for the first full day to help your skin recover optimally. For the first night, try to avoid lying completely flat or sleeping face-down to allow everything to stay exactly where it should be.
